One Word One Book

Photo & Video Sharing by SmugMug

I knew when I chose my word for the year that I wanted to create an altered book/journal, as a place to document specific areas on which I want to focus over the course of the year. I have been working on the cover and immediate inside of the cover over the past couple of days. This is what evolved from my original design, which was quite simple, I am happy with the outcome.

I don't intend to complete this book in a short period of time, it is my hope that it will come together throughout the course of the year.

This is lovely. I have several old textbooks I keep meaning to turn into journals- I guess I blog and Flickr instead. But there's something about private journal pages you can stash away in your bag or under your car seat that is irreplaceable; pages you can feel and can't be deleted without tearing the book as you put your thoughts down.

I use altered books in my sculpture class. They are much more sculpture than journals, but I always love the idea of using discarded books to make art or to write you own story over.
